Getting started
Work: your firm's tasks for every client, with monthly templates
Accounting firms: one to-do list for all your clients, with due dates and who's doing what. Monthly templates make each client's month-end tasks for you. Free.
Work is your firm's to-do list for every client you look after: what needs doing, for which client, by when, and who's doing it. It's free, and your clients never see it (it's kept in your firm's own books).
See what needs doing
- 1On Clients, choose the Work tab at the top. The Work column on Clients shows each client's overdue tasks (in red) or how many are to do; press it to see just that client's.
- 2Tasks are grouped by when they're due: Overdue, Due today, Due in the next 7 days, Later and No due date. Each shows the client, the due date and who's doing it.
- 3Tick a task when it's done. Done lately (at the top) lists what was done in the last 60 days; untick one to bring it back.
- 4Choose Mine to see only the tasks given to you, or pick a client, and press Show.
Add a task
- 1Press Add task.
- 2Choose the client, type what needs doing, and add a due date if it has one.
- 3Under Who does it, choose someone on your team (or Nobody yet). Add notes if you like, and press Save task.
The pencil changes a task. The bin deletes one you added (the firm's owner and admins can delete anyone's).
Monthly templates: each client's month-end work, made for you
A template is the work each client needs every month, such as categorizing, reconciling, the month-end review and sending the reports. TallyPip makes each client's tasks every month, due when you say, and gives them to each client's lead.
- 1On Work, press Monthly templates, then New template (firm owners and firm admins). Your first one starts as a Monthly close you can change.
- 2For each task, choose the day it's due and whether that's in the next month or the month itself. Month-end work is usually due the month after: March's reconciliation by April 10th, say.
- 3Tick Give it to the client's lead to give each client's task to its lead accountant (chosen in Firm team). Untick it to leave it for anyone.
- 4Tick the clients it's for (All of them ticks every one) and press Save template. This month's tasks appear in Work straight away.
Each task is named for the month it's for, like "Reconcile the bank and card accounts (March 2026)". As each month comes round, TallyPip makes its tasks by itself, once each.
Set up a template partway through a month and last month's month-end tasks appear at once, some of them already overdue. Tick the ones you've done, or press Not needed.
A template's task can't be deleted (it would only be made again): press Not needed instead, and Needed after all if it turns out it was. To stop a template for a while, press Change and untick Make the tasks every month. Deleting a template keeps the tasks it already made.
Who sees what
Everyone on your firm's team sees the tasks for the clients they work on, and any task given to them. Firm owners and admins see every client's. Templates are set up by the firm's owner and admins; staff can see them.
