Reclassify transactions: move many to another account at once

Put transactions sorted to the wrong income or expense account right in one go, without opening each one. Amounts, bank lines and reconciliations stay as they are.

Sorted a month of software charges to Advertising? Reclassify moves them all to the right account at once. Owners, admins and accountants can use it.

  1. 1Open Reclassify transactions (Accountant tools, or Accounting › Reclassify).
  2. 2Choose the Account the transactions are in now, and the dates, then press Show.
  3. 3Tick the lines to move (or tick the top box for all of them).
  4. 4Under Change account to, choose the right account and press Reclassify.

It works on bank transactions (one category or split), expenses, checks, bills, vendor credits, invoices, sales receipts, refunds, credit memos, bank deposits and your own journal entries. Only the account changes: amounts, the bank side, what's owed and any reconciliation stay exactly as they were, and the transaction itself shows the new account too.

  • Invoices, sales receipts and credit memos move to income accounts; expenses, bills and vendor credits to expense accounts. Bank transactions, deposits and journal entries can go to either.
  • Transactions in a closed period are left as they are. Move the closing date back first if you need to change them.
  • Things brought over from another app when you switched stay as they came in.
  • Each transaction changed shows in the audit log as Reclassified, with the old and new account.

An invoice line with a discount moves after its share of the discount, so the account totals always match your reports. A line keeps its class when it moves.
