Bill time on invoices
Put a customer's billable time on their invoice in one go. Each entry becomes a line, and TallyPip makes sure it's never billed twice.
Billable time waits until you put it on an invoice. Each time entry becomes one invoice line: the description (with who and when), the hours as the quantity, and the rate per hour as the price.
From a new invoice
- 1Start an invoice (+ Create › Invoice) and choose the customer (and its Project, if the time is for one).
- 2Under the items, Billable time for this customer shows how many entries, hours and what they come to: the project's time on a project's invoice, otherwise the time that isn't for any project.
- 3Press Add all, or Choose to tick just some and press Add … to the invoice.
- 4Change anything you like (a description, a price) and save or send the invoice as usual.
From the customer
- 1Open the customer. Unbilled time in the summary shows what's waiting (time for a project is on that project's page).
- 2Press New transaction › Invoice unbilled time: a new invoice opens with all of it on it. On a project's page, Invoice unbilled time does the same for its time.
What happens to the time
- On the Time page it shows Invoice … with a link, and it isn't offered again.
- Remove its line from the invoice, delete the draft invoice, or void the invoice, and the time is back to Not invoiced, ready to bill again.
- Time can't be on two invoices, or on another customer's invoice. TallyPip refuses both.
- Time on an invoice can't be changed or deleted until it's taken off the invoice.
The invoice goes into your books like any invoice, when it's sent. The time itself never does.
